It is important to remember that symptoms of a heart attack vary from person to person.
The main symptom of a heart attack is central chest pain, generally described as a tightness or crushing type of pain. While the majority of sufferers describe the pain as severe, others have found it to be mild-often confusing it with indigestion. The pain or discomfort may spread to the arms, neck, jaw, back or stomach.
Other symptoms of a heart attack may include:
- Light headiness or dizzy feeling
- Breathlessness
- Rapid shallow breathing
- Sweating and clamminess
- Vomiting or nauseated
Some sufferers will not feel any of the above symptoms but may just feel weak or tired.
