Iron Deficiency

What is Iron Deficiency?

A recent study by the Department of Health and Children found that Irish women were twice as likely as Irish men to have an iron intake below recommended levels. Latest figures show that as many as 91% of women aged 16-64 do not get their recommended daily allowance (RDA) of iron in their diets. Iron is used to make haemoglobin, which carries energy around the body. Symptoms of iron deficiency can include tiredness, poor concentration, dark circles under the eyes.
