Tax Relief on Medicines

Irish taxpayers are entitled to claim tax relief on medical expenses in drugs or medicines prescribed by a doctor, dentist, or consultant.

To claim tax relief you need to fill out a Med 1 form. Claims for tax relief for health expenses incurred in a tax year can only be made after the end of the calendar year. We are able to supply you with a print out of your total spend on prescriptions within any set of dates, for example from 1st January to 31st December, to help you fill out your Med 1 form.

You can obtain further information on medical expenses that tax relief can be claimed on and obtain a Med 1 form from your local tax office or online from Revenue here.
