Signs of Stroke and TIA

A Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) is also known as a mini stroke. The signs of a stroke or a TIA are very similar.

The signs and symptoms of a TIA and a stroke can vary from person-to-person depending on the area of the brain that are affected but generally include:

  • Sudden facial numbness or weakness, often only one side of the face is affected.
  • Weakness of the arms and legs, again often only one side of the body is affected.
  • Fleeting blindness in one or both eyes.
  • Difficulty speaking and understanding speech.
  • Vertigo and loss of coordination.
  • Sudden, severe headache with no known cause.
